Electronic Warfare

Electronic Warfare (EW) represents the ability to use the electromagnetic spectrum—signals such as radio, infrared or radar—to sense, protect, and communicate. At the same time, it can be used to deny adversaries the ability to either disrupt or use these signals.

EW is divided into three (3) major areas:

Electronic Attack
Disrupting a signal, for example
Electronic Protection
Preventing a receiver from being jammed
Electronic Support
Producing the data necessary to disrupt the electromagnetic spectrum

In the air, on land, and at sea, Lockheed Martin pioneers advanced technologies to control the electromagnetic spectrum, and develops disruptive technologies to outpace adversary threats. The key to success lies not only in the capability of the systems we provide, but integration of those systems across platforms to offer a complete picture of the battle space and unimpeded use of the electromagnetic spectrum for the warfighter.

Naval EW
Lockheed Martin builds systems that help the U.S. Navy safely patrol and protect the seas. We deliver proven technologies and functional capabilities that provide real-time situational awareness, enabling the U.S. Navy to intercept signals that identify both imminent and potential threats. Adding another layer to ship defense, these countermeasure technologies use EW to protect vessels from anti-ship missile attacks.
Ground EW
Lockheed Martin provides ground EW solutions to U.S. forces, allied, coalition, and partner nations through a unique next generation open architecture product platform and open business model. Our multi-function/multi-mission capability builds on the Symphony Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) Defeat system. Since its initial fielding in 2006, over 4000 Symphony C-IED systems have been delivered and are currently deployed in support of U.S. coalition and partner nation warfighters.
Airborne EW
Lockheed Martin’s knowledge of airborne protection extends well beyond platform development. We have fielded airborne electronic warfare systems, including electronic support measure (ESM), radar warning receiver (RWR), electronic intelligence, communications intelligence and anti-jam GPS products.
Cyber EW
Lockheed Martin provides the full spectrum of offensive and defensive capabilities in the electromagnetic spectrum using cyber solutions and electronic warfare systems. Using cross-domain technologies and an open architecture design, we offer full mission support to dominate this new era of space-based warfare.
